Undoubtedly this book is not a textbook in the accepted manner, and yet there are more than a few helpful hints and tips waiting to be gleaned from within its pages. Perhaps more importantly, however, is the myriad of anecdotal information contained herein; of times past, ever changing values (more's the pity some might say); and of great times the author shared with his friends: Friends who played such an influential role in establish¬ing the practices that underpin carp fishing, and in popularising our sport.

For who would wish to challenge the influence brought to bear on carp fishing by names such as Richard Walker, 'BB' (Denys Watkins-Pitchford), FredJ. Taylor, Maurice Ingham, Bill Keal, Alec Lewis, Peter Frost, Jim Gibbinson, Bob Buteux, Bill Quinlan, Jack Hilton, Roger Smith, Kevin Clifford, Chris Yates and the like. You'll read of them all within these pages for the author knew them all and, on occasion, fished with most too.

Although some history of our sport is included, plus a heavy nostalgic emphasis, this book isn't all about the past, for the author also brings us up to date with his current carp fishing exploits and techniques.

Also available by Len Arbery: In Pursuit of the Big Tench.
