This unusual book is mainly an angling autobiography. It tells of Peter Mohan’s seventy years of fishing, mainly as a carp angler and his captures of more than 10,000 carp.
He has his own philosophy for carp fishing which is totally different from most carp specialists and the book tells the story of his fishing life. There are many extracts and cuttings from Newspapers and magazines of the past about his fishing and his organising for carp anglers. Peter has written many fictional short fishing stories and two of these, written especially for this book in January 2013, are included. There is also a section on his ideas and opinions on modern carp fishing, some good true stories from his fishing life and a chapter on his other interests and his life outside angling.
The book is quite different from the usual type of carp fishing books, which are mainly either instructional or about the authors’ quest for bigger and bigger carp.
It should appeal to all anglers and we would expect many who never go fishing, but who love the countryside and its wildlife.

Peter Mohan was born in Shinfield, near Reading in 1930. His father was a Primary School Headmaster and his mother was also a teacher. He lived in Bognor Regis, West Sussex for seventeen years and started fishing when he was twelve.

When he left school he worked for three years on a market garden near Chichester, did two years National Service in the RAF and then worked for a year on a mushroom and strawberry nursery.

After training as a Primary School teacher, he taught in Faringdon, Oxfordshire, Chagford, Devon and the British School Montevideo, Uruguay, South America where he became Headmaster of the Junior School.

He then taught in Bristol, but gave up teaching in 1970 to write. Over the next twenty years he did a number of part-time jobs, which included seven years as National Education and Development Officer for the National Anglers Council, seven years as an Area Organiser for the Avon and Bristol Federation of Boys’ Clubs and twelve years as General Editor for Beekay Publishers, the publishing company owned by Kevin Maddocks. He has been a lifelong carp angler, having caught over 6,000 to 33lb 4oz; this is his tenth book.

He was founder of the British Carp Study Group and the Carp Anglers Association, publisher and Editor of the world’s first carp magazine and originator of the first ever Carp Conferences and Tackle Shows.
Peter now lives in Bedford with his partner and constant carp fishing companion, Ann Pillinger
