I’ve fished with him many times; I know him to be an extraordinary catcher of carp; but what I didn’t know is that he remembers everything that happens along the way (or most of it), and is able to bring it all to life through his prose, and his wonderful portfolio of pictures of exceptionally high quality. There are so many adventures, so many big fish, and so many marvellous pictures in the book that it is difficult to single out chapters for comment.
